British Actress Accused of Trying to Smuggle $208 Million Worth of Meth Into Australia in Charcoal Bags
Police allege 320 kg of methamphetamine was hidden in charcoal shipments from Ghana, and the seizure prevented 3.2 million street deals, authorities said.
Actress Emaa Hussen faces potential life imprisonment after being charged with attempting to smuggle 320kg of methamphetamine into Australia following a £160 million drug operation uncovered in Sydney.
Border Force officers intercepted the consignment at Port Botany after discovering narcotics concealed within bags of charcoal shipped from Ghana, West Africa, following a tip-off about the shipment.
After the shipment reached a Girraween storage facility, Hussen allegedly transported the drugs to a Blacktown property where police recovered 32 bags containing a "white crystallised substance."
Hussen remains in custody pending her August court appearance, facing charges alongside two Adelaide residents whom authorities detained for similar offenses in April 2026.
The AFP reported the £296 million seizure prevented 3.2 million potential drug deals, noting criminal syndicates often embed illicit substances in everyday goods like charcoal.
