A’s Hire Cam Castro From the Brewers as General Manager
Cam Castro joins a rebuilt front office after Milwaukee’s 2026 championship season and will replace David Forst as the A’s reshape baseball operations.
On Wednesday, the Athletics hired Cam Castro, the Milwaukee Brewers' senior vice president of player development, as their new general manager to work under President of Baseball Operations Taylor Smith.
The Athletics have been searching for a general manager since David Forst agreed to part ways with the franchise, ending his 27-year tenure; assistant general manager Dan Feinstein has overseen baseball operations on an interim basis since August.
Castro, 36, played a key role in the Milwaukee Brewers' World Series championship last week, bringing seven years of pitching development expertise since joining the organization in 2019.
He inherits an Athletics team that finished 64-98 in 2026, fourth in the American League West, posting the worst ERA in the majors at 5.43 and ranking 29th in WHIP at 1.52.
Under Smith and Castro, the Athletics will play their final season at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento in 2027 before the franchise moves to a new ballpark on the Las Vegas Strip by Opening Day 2028.
