Republican Marsha Blackburn Wins Election for Governor in Tennessee
Blackburn won with 45.6% of the vote, while Democrat Jerri Green finished at 43% and independent David Hatley took 9.3%, officials said.
On Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, the Associated Press projected U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn the winner of Tennessee's gubernatorial race, making her the first woman to hold the state's top office.
Independent candidate David Hatley drew nearly 200,000 votes, tightening the contest, while Blackburn and supporters spent nearly $10 million attacking Hatley's past bank fraud convictions.
Final unofficial results showed Blackburn captured 45.4% of the vote, narrowly defeating Democrat Jerri Green, who received 43.1%, marking Green's best performance since 2006.
Blackburn intends to remain in her U.S. Senate seat until her January 16, 2027, inauguration, allowing her to select her own interim replacement for the Washington seat.
Green conceded the race shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday, insisting she is "not going anywhere" and signaling her fight against school vouchers and for rural healthcare will continue.
