Boy survives shark attack in Bahamas; needed 1,000 stitches
His older brother pulled him from the water, and doctors expect a full recovery after the 12-year-old needed 1,000 stitches.
While vacationing in the Bahamas, 12-year-old Parker Roll survived a shark attack at a secluded beach when what he thought was a docile nurse shark turned out to be a 10-foot-long reef shark that latched onto his leg.
His older Brother heard him screaming and pulled him away from the shark and out of the water, while another Brother ran for a first aid kit to address the wound.
Parker needed 1,000 stitches in his leg following the attack. He said, "Yeah, it felt like a knife was stabbed into my calf and then twisted and then someone was laying on top of it."
His family brought him 60 miles by boat to the nearest hospital for emergency treatment. Parents say doctors expect him to make a full recovery from the attack.
Right now, Parker is really grateful for his Brother's intervention. His Brother noted he "Got" very lucky, as the shark could have easily taken his leg off.
