A dozen farms have been officially affected by this disease, which can be fatal to animals. Farmers, supported by agricultural unions and a part of the population, oppose slaughters aimed at containing the disease.
For the first time in France, cases of contagious nodular dermatosis have been detected in Savoie and Haute-Savoie. Some farmers are insurgent against systematic slaughter and have blocked access to their farm as in Entrelacs on Wednesday.
In Savoie, it is no longer the bells that resonate in the pastures, but the echo of a health crisis that transforms estives into red zones and dairy cows into economic adjustment variables. Between slaughter protocol and silence of the institutions, the breeders pay the price... cow.
For the past week, a farmer, whose livestock is one of the 17 outbreaks of this disease identified for the first time in France, has opposed the collective euthanasia of his animals. A massive gathering was held on his farm in Entrelacs on Tuesday 15 July.


Mobilization is growing in Savoy, while two cases of nodular dermatosis have been detected in a herd that must be slaughtered in its entirety, reports Le Dauphiné Libéré.
This strictly animal disease is transmitted by stinging insects. To contain the spread, when a case is confirmed, the services must carry out the slaughter.
