Boston Lead Singer Tommy DeCarlo Dies Aged 60
On Monday, March 9th, 2026, Tommy DeCarlo's family announced his death at age sixty after a brain cancer diagnosis last September.
After a September brain bleed that led to emergency surgery, doctors found two melanoma masses in his brain and a spot in his lungs; he was hospitalized beginning Nov. 27, completed inpatient therapy and was treated by oncologists before his death.
After Brad Delp's death in 2007, Tommy DeCarlo was discovered when his daughter posted a karaoke video; Boston founder/guitarist Tom Scholz contacted him and thought the voice was Delp.
DeCarlo's son launched a GoFundMe last year that surpassed its $50,000 goal and had raised more than $56,000 as of Monday.
As lead singer of Boston, Tommy DeCarlo, who was not the original but led the band known for hits like 'More Than a Feeling,' died at 60, impacting fans and members including Gary Pihl and Tracy Ferrie.
From fan to rock star: The path of "Boston" singer Tommy DeCarlo on the big stage is like a fairy tale. Now the American musician died at the age of 60.
