Singer Bonnie Tyler 'Stable' but 'Seriously Ill' as New Health Update Shared
Her spokesman said doctors placed the 74-year-old singer in an induced coma after emergency intestinal surgery, and they expect a full recovery.
Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler, 74, remains "seriously ill but stable" in a Faro, Portugal hospital following emergency intestinal surgery, with doctors expressing optimism about her recovery as of Tuesday.
Tyler initially felt unwell during a London concert before traveling to the Algarve, where severe abdominal pain prompted an urgent transfer to Faro for emergency surgery to treat a burst appendix.
Family representatives issued a statement Tuesday distancing the singer from associate Liberto Mealha and denouncing "lurid and untrue rumours," requesting "privacy and decency at this difficult time."
Husband Robert Sullivan, a property developer she married in 1973, is supporting Tyler at her bedside and expressed gratitude to Faro medical staff for the life-saving intervention.
Tyler is scheduled to tour Europe later this year to mark 50 years since her 1976 breakthrough hit "Lost In France," with performances planned for Malta and Germany this month.
