Blue Jays hope to get shortstop Bo Bichette back during playoffs
Bo Bichette leads MLB with 181 hits and 44 doubles this season; his playoff return is possible despite missing the regular season due to a left knee sprain.
On September 6, 2025, Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette injured his left knee while being tagged out at home plate during a game versus the New York Yankees.
Bichette has been on the 10-day injured list since September 7 after a second opinion from a Dallas doctor confirmed he has a sprained knee without any structural damage or need for surgery.
Bichette, a 27-year-old two-time All-Star leading the majors with 181 hits and 44 doubles, was sidelined for the rest of the regular season but currently does rehab at the team’s Florida spring training complex.
John Schneider, the manager of the Blue Jays, indicated that Bichette will not return during the regular season. He also noted that a second medical opinion was encouraging as Bichette gradually resumes his recovery.
Toronto leads the AL East by five games with 12 left and hopes Bichette could return as a designated hitter in the postseason starting September 30 or October 4 if they reach the playoffs.
