Bloomberg Gives $80 Million to Democrats Ahead of Midterm Elections: Report
Bloomberg’s funding aims to help Democrats keep pace with Republican ad spending and build a larger House majority, aides said.
Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is spending $80 million to support Democrats ahead of the November 3 midterm elections, serving as a late-arriving financial boost for the party.
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump stated he has spent or will spend over 400 Million Dollars by Election Day, with more than 300 Million Dollars already allocated to campaign efforts.
Bloomberg directed at least $50 million toward House races, including $24 million for Everytown for Gun Safety and $16 million for the House Majority PAC.
Democrats seek to reclaim control of Congress, where 470 seats are up for grabs in the Republican-controlled chambers amid these significant financial commitments.
Reuters has not independently verified the spending figures reported for either Trump or Bloomberg as both candidates conclude their final push before November 3.
