Prague - President Petr Pavel will act in accordance with the constitution regarding the resignation of Justice Minister Pavel Blažek (ODS). Questions about the timetable are premature at this point, Castle spokesman Vojtěch Šeliga told ČTK.
Pavel Blažek decided to resign from his position as Minister of Justice on Friday. The 65-year-old lawyer has held the position since the government of Petr Fiala took office. He served in the same position in 2012 and 2013 under the government of Petr Nečas. His actions have faced public interest several times, for example when he met with pro-Russian lobbyist Martin Nejedlý in 2023.
Justice Minister Pavel Blažek (ODS) has resigned. He did so shortly after telling reporters that he would be considering his future. "After agreement with Prime Minister Petr Fiala, I have decided to resign from the position of Minister of Justice. I am not aware of any illegal actions. However, I do not want to damage the reputation of the government or the governing coalition," he wrote on X.
