Blanche says Khanna named ‘random people’ in House speech on Epstein files
Rep. Ro Khanna retracted four names from Epstein files after DOJ confirmed they were unrelated and part of an old FBI photo lineup, highlighting transparency issues.
- On Tuesday, Rep. Ro Khanna read six names on the U.S. House floor and retracted four on Friday after The Guardian reported the DOJ said they were random lineup entries.
- After viewing newly unredacted documents on Monday, Khanna and Rep. Thomas Massie sought a special master and blamed the DOJ for failing to explain redactions before un-redacting names.
- The DOJ explained that four men named by Khanna came from a photo lineup assembled years ago by the Southern District of New York, and The Guardian found no ties to Jeffrey Epstein for those men while two men contacted denied knowing Epstein.
- Two of the six named were high-profile figures—Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem and Leslie Wexner—and Sulayem resigned as CEO on Friday, while Salvatore Nuarte contacted Khanna's office after his name was read.
- A public dispute erupted when Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche accused Khanna of rushing to X and the House floor with false accusations, while the DOJ spokesperson said Khanna and Rep. Thomas Massie forced unmasking of completely random people selected years ago for an FBI lineup.
