In the Berlin state parliament elections held in Germany on September 20, the Left Party (Die Linke), which nominated Elif Eralp, of Turkish origin, as its candidate for state premier, finished first with 24.5% of the vote.

In the German state elections, the Left Party achieved a historic success, becoming the leading party in Berlin with 25.8% of the vote! This result paves the way for Elif Eralp, a candidate of Turkish origin, to become Berlin's first state premier of immigrant background. In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, however, the far-right AfD emerged victorious with 37.1% of the vote.
According to exit polls from the Berlin state elections in Germany, the Left Party, led by prime minister candidate Elif Eralp, finished first with 24.5% of the vote. Following this historic achievement, party members celebrated the victory by dancing the traditional Turkish folk dance, halay, to the tune of Tarkan's songs in the streets of Berlin.
