Bengaluru Daycare Scandal: Arrests Made in Shocking Child Abuse Case
Police said the arrested caretaker was identified in viral video footage, while four other accused remain unserved and the company has shut the facility.
Bengaluru Police arrested caregiver Vijayalakshmi on Friday in connection with the Capgemini daycare abuse case. She was produced before a court and remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
The incident occurred at Little Buds Day Care, located within the Capgemini campus in Brookefield. Authorities registered an FIR on June 29 after videos surfaced showing alleged physical and mental abuse.
Alleged victims are children between the ages of two and three years. Staff reportedly intimidated these toddlers, including locking them in washing machines and using toilet jet sprays on them.
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights initiated an inquiry, sending a fact-finding team to Bengaluru for a July 3 and 4 visit. Capgemini temporarily shut the facility.
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh announced a comprehensive review of all daycare centers across the city to ensure compliance with norms. Further arrests are under consideration pending footage analysis.
