Man Attacks Wife with Machete, Suspected Acid in Bengaluru’s J.P. Nagar
Police said the estranged husband was arrested after the 26-year-old nurse was attacked with a machete and floor cleaner and remains in critical condition.
- On Thursday, a 26-year-old nurse named Madhumita was critically injured in Bengaluru after her estranged husband allegedly attacked her with a machete and floor-cleaning acid near Narayan Clinic in JP Nagar Third Phase.
- Police report that Venkatesh, a native of Tamil Nadu and the estranged husband, had been living apart from Madhumita for the past year following a dispute. She worked at Narayan Clinic for one and a half years.
- Arriving from Madurai on Wednesday evening, Venkatesh pursued the victim toward the clinic's parking lot on Thursday morning in full public view. Nearby locals attempted to intervene by throwing stones at the attacker.
- A traffic police sub-inspector on duty intervened to assist Madhumita, who was immediately rushed to a private hospital for urgent care. Officers detained Venkatesh at the scene and are questioning him regarding motive.
- In a separate case, police in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district reported that Parvez allegedly killed his wife, Nagma, on September 9 after suspecting her of infidelity. The incident underscores recurring domestic violence patterns.
