Penguins' Ben Kindel Back on the Ice After Vasovagal Episode During Team Flight
The 19-year-old forward was cleared after overnight observation and has resumed conditioning as the Penguins monitor his status day by day.
On Tuesday, Pittsburgh Penguins forward Ben Kindel returned to practice in Cranberry Township, one week after suffering a vasovagal episode on a team flight from Utah.
The 19-year-old forward lost consciousness shortly after takeoff from Salt Lake City on Oct. 20, forcing the plane to return to the airport for medical intervention.
Penguins captain Sidney Crosby called the return a "great sign," saying, "I'm pretty sure that things are progressing well if he's back out with us."
Coach Dan Muse observed Kindel skating alongside Evgeni Malkin and Egor Chinakov, though the team will evaluate his game readiness one day at a time.
The Penguins prepare to host the Utah Mammoth on Thursday while Kindel remains on injured reserve, though the team has won two straight games.
