Belgium and Poland to intensify defence cooperation: army buys 140 million euros worth of Polish anti-aircraft missiles
Belgium and Poland want to further expand their military cooperation. Defence Minister Theo Francken (N-VA) and his Polish counterpart Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz have signed a so-called Letter of Intent to this end. According to the Polish Ministry of Defence, the agreement includes Belgium’s planned purchase of between 200 and 300 Polish-made portable air defence systems, known as Piorun. These systems are designed to counter aircraft, helicopters, drones, and missiles.
