BBC to Air Series About Early Days of The Beatles

- The BBC has acquired Hamburg Days, a six-part drama adapted from Klaus Voormann's memoir for BBC One and BBC iPlayer that chronicles the Beatles' rise from teenagers to global icons.
- Based on the memoir by Klaus Voormann and Astrid Kirchherr, the series adapts their account of Hamburg's St Pauli red-light district in the early 1960s, with Voormann consulting and Kirchherr deceased.
- Co-Financed for broadcast by ZDF and the BBC, W&B Television and Turbine Studios produce Hamburg Days for ZDF, the BBC and AGC Television, with AGC International managing worldwide sales and support from MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein.
- Developed by Benjamin Benedict, the series has Jamie Carragher as head writer, Christian Schwochow as showrunner, Mat Whitecross directing, and David Holmes curating the music with executive producers.
- The announcement arrives amid a wave of Beatles projects, including a Sam Mendes multi-film event; casting has begun and production is slated to start in spring in Hamburg and Liverpool, though Fab Four casting is not yet fully revealed.
