Amol Rajan Questions Raising Family in England Due to ‘Big Problems’ in Country
Rajan said he is worried about England’s future and questioned whether it is the best place for his four children to grow up.
University Challenge host Amol Rajan questioned whether England is the "right place" to raise his four children, citing "some big, big problems that need addressing" in his country.
Born in Calcutta, India, Rajan moved to England with his family at age three and married Charlotte Faircloth, an associate professor at University College London, in 2013; the couple now lives in London.
On Gyles Brandreth's Rosebud podcast, Rajan described India as "extraordinarily exciting and energetic," while admitting he remains "very worried" about England's current state.
Rajan plans to visit India more frequently once his youngest child is older, hoping to take his children to "fall in love with the civilisation that's in their blood."
These comments follow Rajan's announcement that he will leave Radio 4's Today programme later this year to enter the "Creator Economy" and build his own company.
