Hundreds of Young People From India Arrive in Rome for Jubilee
ROME, ITALY, JUL 31 – Pope Leo XIV encouraged young pilgrims to share their faith and joy, with 500,000 participants attending masses and celebrations during the Jubilee of Young People, organizers said.
- From July 28 to August 3, the Vatican and Diocese of Rome is hosting the 2025 Jubilee of Young People, welcoming one million pilgrims from 146 countries.
- Long ago, from August 15- 19, 2000, Pope John Paul II joined two million young people for the 15th World Youth Day, exemplifying jubilee tradition.
- Around 500,000 young pilgrims have entered Rome to mark the Holy Year, with Father Chetan Machado accompanying a group of 600 from India amid streets filled with singing and praying.
- On July 29, Pope Leo XIV greeted visitors from the popemobile at St. Peter’s Square and welcomed them as “pilgrims of hope,” recognizing families’ sacrifices.
- Three key locations will stand out during the days leading up to 3 August, and the monument completed by Santiago Calatrava will symbolize the culmination of the Youth Jubilee.
