- On Monday, Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited Putrajaya to request that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim reopen Malaysia's labour market to Bangladeshi workers and address detained nationals' repatriation.
- Kuala Lumpur restricted hiring from Bangladesh since 2024 following widespread reports of debt bondage and recruitment scams affecting the approximately 800,000 Bangladeshis who comprise one-third of Malaysia's migrant workforce.
- Both leaders agreed recruitment must be "transparent, fair and affordable," with Anwar describing "human resources cooperation, particularly the workers" as "critical for our survival" while pledging to end exploitation.
- The leaders witnessed the exchange of agreements on investment promotion, cultural cooperation, and counter-terrorism research, pledging to advance free trade negotiations and strengthen bilateral ties.
- Rahman is scheduled to depart for China later on Monday for a three-day visit at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang, marking the second leg of his first foreign trip since taking office.
