On Wednesday, the Federal Constitutional Court will announce its decision on the constitutionality of the remaining solidarity surcharge. This could break big budgetary holes. But even if the solo can stay, income tax reform is urgently needed, says Tim Szent-Ivanyi.

The tax reform agreed between the PNV, PSOE, and Podemos has left some hairs in the air, with unpredictable consequences for the time being. It has revealed a lack of solidity in political alliances, leading to fragile situations in the search for temporary allies. It also highlights a certain absence of consolidated leadership, leading to the emergence of grievances that are difficult to address in the short term.
