Back from All-Star Game, Byron Buxton progresses towards return
Buxton has been hitting and running as the Twins take his recovery day to day after a hip strain kept him on the injured list.
Byron Buxton is ramping up baseball activities while recovering from a hip strain, with the Twins monitoring his progress day to day as the team began a weekend series at Wrigley Field on Friday.
Buxton has battled this recurring hip issue since May, with a re-aggravation occurring shortly after returning from a previous stint in June and remaining on the injured list since July 5.
Although voted into the All-Star Game in Philadelphia on Tuesday, the injury forced Buxton to miss the event; his family still attended festivities, creating memories with his sons Brixton, Blaze, and Baire.
Manager Derek Shelton and pitcher Joe Ryan represented the Twins at the All-Star Game, with Shelton serving on the American League staff during the 4-0 victory.
As the trade deadline approaches, the Twins hope to integrate a healthy Buxton back into the lineup during this pivotal series at Wrigley Field against the Cubs.
