'Baby Shark' Boy Set To Make K-Pop Debut 10 Years After Viral Video
The Korean-language single features Monsta X member Joohoney and marks a one-off K-pop debut nearly 10 years after the viral video.
- On August 20, 17-year-old Park Geon-roung, known as Baby Shark Boy, will release his first digital single, 'WAVE,' marking his transition into the K-pop market. The Pinkfong Company announced the project.
- Park first appeared in the 'Baby Shark Dance' video in 2016. "Ten years ago I was dancing next to Baby Shark," he said, reflecting on his desire to share his own voice and story.
- The Korean-language track features K-pop star Joohoney from Monsta X. Park also co-wrote the lyrics of 'Wave,' while a 16-second teaser on YouTube showcases the catchy opening lyrics, "Baby shark, doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo."
- Addressing the project's scope, The Pinkfong Company clarified this is a one-off project, not a conventional K-pop idol launch. "It's about him telling his own story," a representative said.
