Australia’s WiseTech co-founder Richard White steps down as executive chair
Raelene Murphy takes over as independent chair as the company seeks more board changes and succession planning after shares fell nearly 70% since late 2024.
- On Tuesday, WiseTech Global announced co-founder Richard White is stepping down as executive chair, effective immediately, with Independent Director Raelene Murphy appointed as the new independent chair.
- White cited media attention as an "unnecessary distraction from the strength of WiseTech's business," while continuing to "strenuously and unequivocally" deny recent allegations; shares remain about 66 per cent lower than 12 months ago.
- Despite leadership changes, the company reported strong 1H26 financials: revenue increased 76% to US$672 million, EBITDA rose 31% to US$252.1 million, although statutory net profit fell 36% to US$68.1 million.
- White will remain on the board as an executive director and Chief Innovation Officer, while WiseTech continues searching for an additional independent director to bring the total to 5.
- CEO Zubin Appoo, appointed in July 2025, continues leading the firm through a "deliberate AI transformation journey," though RBC Capital Markets analysts noted the market requires evidence the refreshed board operates independently.
