Australian bishop acknowledges 8-year delay in justice in Indigenous abuse case but defends process
Christopher Saunders was sentenced to six years and six months in prison after a jury convicted him of 13 of 19 sexual-abuse charges involving young Indigenous men.
Archbishop Timothy Costelloe acknowledged an eight-year delay in bringing Saunders to justice.
Costelloe defended allowing police to lead the case, saying this protected the integrity of the justice process.
