Aussie teen ‘abducted’ on way to school

Police say the girl was forced into a vehicle and taken to hospital, and the boy was charged with abduction and due in children’s court.

  • A 15-year-old boy was charged with abduction after allegedly forcing a 17-year-old girl into a vehicle as she walked to Keysborough Secondary College in Springvale South on Friday. The Special Operations Group arrested him about 12pm the same day.
  • Police allege the male forced the girl into a vehicle which fled the scene, driving her approximately 55 kilometres across Melbourne to an address in Tarneit. Police believe the parties were "known to one another."
  • Ambulance Victoria transported the girl to hospital in stable condition. The Department of Education provided wellbeing supports to the school community following the incident.
  • Appearing via video link in a children's court on Saturday evening, the teenager faced the abduction charge as a magistrate revoked his bail for previous offenses. He remains in custody until July 6.
  • The alleged incident occurred just hours before Victorian school holidays began. The teenager's lawyer requested a medical assessment for an injury and mental health matters during the court hearing.
