- St. Paul's Pillbox, also called Down Town Ballpark, was located at 12th and Robert streets and built in 1903.
- Interest in commemorating the Pillbox arose partly from a statue removal after George Floyd's murder in 2020.
- The Pillbox hosted the 1909 Black baseball championship and was a square stadium without outfield seating.
- Thornley recalled, "You could see the Capitol being built, and behind the center field corner was Central Park."
- The CAAPB will consider history and public opinion when deciding on a Pillbox commemorative spot on Capitol grounds.
