On Wednesday, India's men's and women's skeet teams secured bronze medals at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, marking a significant addition to the nation's shooting tally at the 2026 event.
The women's trio of Maheshwari Chauhan, Parinaaz Dhaliwal, and Raiza Dhillon scored 331 points, while the men's team of Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmad Khan, and Bhavtegh Singh Gill totaled 346 points to claim their podium finishes.
Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker finished fifth in the 10m air pistol individual final on Wednesday, scoring 181.1 points after qualifying third with 579 points, though she narrowly missed a team medal earlier.
"Look, a medal is always a medal," veteran shooter Mairaj Ahmad Khan said, adding the women's team's achievement creates a "strong platform" for future World Cups and Olympic success.
Elsewhere, Jay Meena secured bronze in men's soft tennis after falling 2-4 to Japan's Takuya Kurosaka, while fencers Karan Singh and Gisho Nidhi Kumaresan advanced to the Round of 32 in the men's individual sabre event.
Chu Ga-eun fired the golden shot in the women's 10m air pistol event at the Asian Games. This is the first gold medal for Korean shooting at this competition. On the 23rd, at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games shooting final held at the Aichi Prefectural Shooting Range in Japan, Chu Ga-eun scored 246.3 points (a new Games record)
