AFC Confirm Jeddah to Host Postponed Asian Champions League Matches
Four last-16 matches postponed due to Middle East war will be single-leg ties in Jeddah, with quarterfinals and finals scheduled from April 16-25, AFC said.
- On Tuesday, the Asian Football Confederation announced that four Asian Champions League Elite series postponed due to the war in the Middle East will move to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for single-leg matches next month.
- Originally, the last-16 matches were scheduled for a home-and-away format across Qatar, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates in early March, but escalating regional conflict forced the relocation.
- The AFC confirmed rescheduled matches include Shabab Al-Ahli versus Tractor and Al-Wahda against Al-Ittihad, while defending champions Al-Ahli face Al-Duhail and Al-Hilal plays Al-Sadd.
- Jeddah will also host the competition's quarterfinals, semifinals, and final from mid-April, while Vissel Kobe, Machida Zelvia, Buriram United, and Johor Darul Ta'zim have advanced from the Eastern side of the draw.
- The draw for the quarterfinals takes place in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, as the AFC also postponed the AFC Champions League Two and AFC Challenge League quarterfinals due to the ongoing regional situation.
