Artist Kimisha Turner reflects on repainting Seattle Black Lives Matter Mural and the future for Black artists in America

It’s a significant year for Kimisha Turner, an artist known for her intricate and thought-provoking artwork, as this is the fifth year since she and other local artists created the Black Lives Matter mural in Capitol Hill. Turner was among many artists from the Vivid Matter Collective, an artist organization based in Seattle, who created the vivid statement while demonstrations took place around them in 2020.
