Artemis Fowl Animated Series Gets Disney Channel, Disney+ Green Light
The adaptation follows the fantasy books that have sold over 35 million copies worldwide and will be executive produced by Eoin Colfer.
- On Sunday at New York Comic Con, creator Eoin Colfer announced that Disney has greenlit a new animated series based on his bestselling Artemis Fowl books, with Colfer serving as executive producer.
- Celebrating the franchise's 25th anniversary this year, the series has sold more than 35 million copies worldwide and been translated into 48 languages since its 2001 debut.
- The series follows the 13-year-old genius Artemis Fowl, who uncovers an underground world of armed and dangerous — and surprisingly high-tech — fairies as he launches a plan to capture one and steal its magic to heal his dying mom and save his family.
- Following a 2020 live-action adaptation that received negative reviews, the film was removed from Disney Plus in 2023, setting up this animated series as a fresh creative direction.
- Executive producers Ben Juwono and Colleen Evanson join Colfer on the project, while Disney Kids and Family President Ayo Davis said the books have "captivated readers around the world with unforgettable characters.
