Army veteran accused of shooting wife found dead during manhunt: Authorities
Authorities said the search ended after Berry was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, ending a multiagency manhunt.
Craig Berry, a 53-year-old Army Special Forces veteran, was wanted for attempted second-degree murder after allegedly shooting his wife and fleeing into the woods near Dover, Tennessee, on May 1.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Marshals Service led a manhunt involving multiple agencies, and Berry was placed on Tennessee's Most Wanted list.
Berry was found dead near Old Paris Landing with a likely self-inflicted gunshot wound and was no longer considered a threat to the public.
His wife survived the shooting after escaping and was treated for life-threatening injuries but has since been released from the hospital.
The search for a special forces veteran accused of shooting his wife ended when his lifeless body was found on Wednesday, Stewart County Sheriff's Office said.
