The Portuguese Army took a step to ensure the resilience of telecommunications in national territory. Developed with MEO and funded by the Military Programming Act, the network guarantees voice, data and video without relying on civilian infrastructure. Official presentation on 14 October.
Funded by the Law of Military Programming and designed in Portugal, the new mobile tactical network 4G/5G allows to guarantee voice, data, video and geolocation services even when the civil networks cease to function. The system can be used in operations to support civil protection and respond to emergencies.
The network, which can operate autonomously and use satellite communications, aims to improve Military Emergency Support and ensure a faster response in crisis situations.
