Armenia says Turkey rail link open for trade in breakthrough for regional connectivity
The reopening could cut Armenia’s reliance on Russia and Georgia as officials say the route may link European markets and future corridors through Turkey and Iran.
Armenia has opened a new rail link to Turkey via Georgia, using the Akhalkalaki-Kars corridor, enhancing access to Turkish, European, and global markets for Armenian exports and imports.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan described the development as a major boost to Armenia's economy and expressed gratitude to Turkey and Georgia for their cooperation enabling this trade route.
