Čamrdári, or manufacturers of mother-of-pearl buttons, once had their workshops from Třebíč in Moravia to Žirovnice in the Pelhřimovsko region in Bohemia, which supplied buttons to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Now, archaeologists have surprisingly found the remains of one of the workshops in Brno. Apparently, it was a mini-workshop supplying mother-of-pearl buttons, or čamrdy in Old Czech, to textile mills.
