aql and parkrun deliver £10m in NHS savings
The free messaging deal delivered millions of weekly alerts and helped generate an estimated £10 million in NHS savings, researchers said.
AQLCloud and the global health charity have concluded their 13-year digital partnership, with the organization transitioning to an app-first environment for notifications.
Throughout the collaboration, AQLCloud provided free SMS infrastructure to deliver weekly text alerts to runners. This technology served as the 'digital glue' for the health charity, facilitating communication across the country.
AQLCloud absorbed £1 million in messaging costs, insulating the charity from operational expenses closer to £2 million. This support unlocked £10 million in targeted NHS savings by reducing reliance on clinical services.
Sinton-Hewitt CBE and Adam Beaumont reflected on the collaboration, with Beaumont stating their £1 million tech support translated into £10 million in NHS savings, describing it as 'incredibly fulfilling.'
According to research evaluated by the Royal College and General Practitioners, every £1 spent staging events returns roughly £10 in healthcare benefits. This framework demonstrates the broader value of the partnership.
