Apple releases iOS 27, macOS 27 and other major updates with Siri AI

On Wednesday, Apple released iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, and watchOS 27, marking one of the company's largest software rollouts in years. The headline addition is Siri AI, a rebuilt voice assistant designed to hold natural conversations and understand on-screen content.
Siri AI runs on Apple Foundation Models and requires newer hardware like the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 range to function. The assistant currently launches as an English-language beta, with support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish arriving in October.
Apple also debuted a redesigned Health app featuring new Insights and Longevity tabs that analyze health metrics like VO2 max and A1c. Apple's VP of Health and Fitness Sumbul Desai emphasized that privacy remains central, utilizing Private Cloud Compute for encrypted processing.
Just two days after iOS 27's launch, Apple released the first developer beta for iOS 27.2, bypassing the expected 27.1 update. This version expands Siri AI language support and integrates the redesigned Health app for testing ahead of a later public release.
Apple warns that server-based AI features carry daily usage limits, with expanded access potentially requiring fees in the future. Because this developer beta is not final, the company recommends testing only on secondary devices to avoid stability or battery issues.
