Apple announces new Issey Miyake Apple pocket phone carrier

Apple and Issey Miyake debut a 3D-knitted iPhone Pocket priced between $150 and $230, available in limited Apple Store locations and online worldwide.

  • Wednesday, Apple officially announced Digital ID in Apple Wallet and a limited‑edition iPhone Pocket with Issey Miyake Design Studio, announced on Nov 11 and sold starting Nov. 14.
  • Teased at WWDC, the Digital ID in iOS 26 builds on Apple’s 2022 driver's license/state ID rollout and reflects its Steve Jobs era design ties with Issey Miyake Design Studio.
  • To set up Digital ID, users scan the passport photo page and embedded chip, take a selfie with facial and head movements, and authenticate presentations with Face ID or Touch ID.
  • The rollout is currently U.S.-only and iPhone and Apple Watch owners in the United States can use U.S. passports at TSA checkpoints at more than 250 U.S. airports, but the beta has limited reader support and requires a physical passport for international travel.
  • The iPhone Pocket, inspired by Miyake's pleats and priced at $149.95 and $229.95, is called 'Personally, they remind me of the iPod Classic sock and... About the price... very much in line with Issey Miyake accessories' by Victor Abarca.
