AJPD Officer Facio Dies; Los Angeles Protests Intensify

Officer Gabriel Facio, who served three years with the Apache Junction Police, died on Sunday after being shot during a road rage incident that started Monday morning in Apache Junction, Arizona.
After stopping 37-year-old Roger Nunez following reports of a man displaying a weapon, police said he grew hostile and shot multiple times, hitting Officer Facio in the face.
Despite officers’ efforts to intervene and medical staff reviving him after his heart stopped, Facio remained in extremely critical condition until passing away surrounded by family and friends.
Pinal County Attorney Brad Miller affirmed that his office is committed to seeking justice vigorously in this matter and that the person responsible will face full accountability.
Facio leaves behind a wife and two children, and the community and department mourn his loss while pledging to honor his service and support his family through this difficult time.
