PM orders evacuation flights for Thais in Mideast
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has ordered an urgent, round-the-clock operation to evacuate Thais from the war-torn Middle East, with the priority to bring Thais home from Iran, amid fears the conflict could widen.
Anutin ordered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force to prepare aircraft to pick up Thai citizens stranded in Iran. He also instructed the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Defence, and the Ministry of Interior to be on 24-hour alert for this operation.
Chulapun expressed concern over the conflict in the Middle East, urging the government to enhance coordination and prepare for emergency assistance and the evacuation of Thai citizens. He emphasized the need to resolve conflicts peacefully to prevent negative impacts on global economic stability. (March 1)
