Anthropogenic noise pollution is becoming an important environmental stress factor in Antarctica with the potential to disrupt natural ecosystems, as many taxa depend on acoustic signals for their social interaction and communication. Antarctic fauna increasingly suffers from the impact of the growing human presence on the continent, especially near more populated areas, such as research stations that belong to several countries.
