Toddler Among 3 Killed After Car Hits Bike in Kerala, ‘Drunk’ Driver Absconding
Police said the driver fled after the crash and was booked under culpable homicide and drunken-driving charges.
- On Saturday night, an out-of-control car struck a motorcycle near Excel Public School in Kunnamkulam, killing a family of three. Victims Muneer, 39, his wife Shafna, 28, and their three-year-old son Muhammad Ameen Ibac were traveling toward Guruvayur.
- Kunnamkulam police reported the driver of car KL-46-U-6001 fled the scene immediately after ramming the motorcycle from behind at excessive speed. Authorities allege the driver was intoxicated and have filed charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Motor Vehicles Act.
- Charges against the driver include Sections 105 and 110 of the BNS, plus Sections 134, 185, and 187 of the Motor Vehicles Act. These relate to culpable homicide, drunken driving, and failure to provide medical assistance or report the accident.
- Authorities transported the victims' remains, all natives of Edakkazhiyur, to the Government Taluk Hospital in Kunnamkulam for required procedures. Police confirmed the bodies will be released to relatives following the necessary inquest and postmortem examinations.
- This tragedy occurred just one day after eight engineering students died in Kaipamangalam when their vehicle rammed into a Maharashtra-registered lorry. Those victims were identified as students from PSNA College of Engineering and Technology in Dindigul.
