Rosneft Kuibyshev Oil Refinery Halts Processing After Drone Attack
The strike damaged both primary crude distillation units and stopped 94,400 barrels a day of processing, industry sources said.
On Wednesday, June 10, a Ukrainian drone attack forced Rosneft's Kuibyshev oil refinery to halt crude processing after damaging two primary distillation units, CDU-4 and CDU-5, according to industry sources.
Samara Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev reported three people were injured during the drone strikes, while the Telegram channel Astra confirmed fires at the refinery after reviewing eyewitness media.
Each of the two disabled units processes about 10,000 tons, or 73,000 barrels, daily; the facility processed 4.7 million tons of crude in 2024, making it a leading Volga region refinery.
Kyiv has stepped up attacks on energy facilities, causing fuel shortages in at least 25 regions across Russia as the Kuibyshev plant joins the Syzran and Novokuibyshev plants facing operational disruptions.
Both the Syzran and Novokuibyshev refineries have struggled with operations since previous strikes in May and April respectively, as diplomatic talks to end the Ukraine war have failed to produce progress.
