The transport of feed and bedding for farm animals from Slovakia and Hungary to the Czech Republic is now prohibited. The State Veterinary Administration (SVS) issued the ban with immediate effect on Friday in response to the spread of foot-and-mouth disease. The ban applies to the transport of hay, straw and green fodder intended for farm animals.

The State Veterinary Administration is also tightening disinfection at the borders.

The farm of Czech farmer Pavel Šandera is located about six and a half kilometers from Baka, Slovakia, where foot-and-mouth disease has been confirmed. The occurrence of the disease is psychologically very demanding for everyone, the risk is fatal.

Feed and bedding for farm animals are no longer allowed to be transported from Slovakia and Hungary to the Czech Republic.
