Angels Trade Taylor Ward to Orioles for Pitcher Grayson Rodriguez
- On Nov. 18, the Baltimore Orioles acquired outfielder Taylor Ward from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for right-handed starting pitcher Grayson Rodriguez, both former first-round picks.
- After his career year, Taylor Ward hit a career-high 36 home runs and drove in 103 runs in 157 games, and he is scheduled to become a free agent after the 2026 season.
- Grayson Rodriguez missed the entire 2025 season with lat and elbow injuries and underwent surgery in August to remove bone chips after feeling elbow discomfort during a March 5 Grapefruit League start.
- By trading Ward the Angels freed corner-outfield spots for Mike Trout, Jo Adell or Jorge Soler and reduced payroll pressure as Ward made $7,825,000 last season, clearing money off the Angels books.
- The deal gives the Angels control of Rodriguez for four seasons, and an Angels spokesman said Rodriguez is expected to be ready for spring training after surgery.
