Cabomba weed arrived in Australia as an aquarium plant in 1967. It has since become one of the country's worst invasive plants. The weed can grow up to five centimetres a day and can reproduce from small broken pieces. CSIRO releases of the cabomba weevil are planned for Lake Kurwongbah and Lake MacDonald.
