Anchorage Adds Etherlink, Tokenized Uranium Custody
Anchorage said institutional clients can now hold seven Etherlink assets, including xU3O8, through segregated custody accounts at its federally chartered bank.
- On Wednesday, Anchorage Digital Bank added institutional custody support for Etherlink and seven assets, including xU3O8, a token representing physical uranium. The federally chartered bank now offers segregated accounts for these holdings.
- Institutions require regulated custody frameworks to hold tokenized real-world assets, Anchorage Digital CEO Nathan McCauley noted. Traditional uranium trading involves specialist intermediaries, lengthy settlement periods, and large minimum investment sizes that hinder investor access.
- Existing clients can now custody these assets, including wrapped XTZ and stablecoins, using current operational processes without establishing separate arrangements. All holdings remain within Anchorage's segregated custody infrastructure.
- Ben Elvidge, head of alternative assets at Trillitech, said custody at a federally chartered bank "removes the single biggest obstacle" for institutional allocators. Elvidge noted this enables funds to manage tokenized assets on balance sheets.
- Tezos co-founder Arthur Breitman plans to bring a larger range of commodities onto blockchain infrastructure. This expansion follows recent integrations for stablecoins and Ethereum staking services.
