Samoa's Leader of the Opposition says the government are trying to silence him, after he was arrested yesterday afternoon on defamation charges against the Prime Minister.

RNZ Pacific reporters Samoa’s opposition leader, Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi has been arrested and charged with defamation towards Prime Minister Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Schmidt. Local media is reporting that the charges relate to allegations made by Tuilaepa during a media conference last week.
