A pilot program by the municipality of Amsterdam has resulted in more than eighty asylum seekers now finding work. The project, initiated by Alderman Rutger Groot Wassink (GroenLinks-PvdA), was intended to help asylum seekers find jobs more quickly during their stay in reception centers. The total cost is €2,450,000, spread over two years. This was reported by local broadcaster AT5.
Amsterdam will help asylum seekers find work at all COA locations in the city. A pilot program at a single asylum seekers' center on Willinklaan in the Nieuw-West district was so successful in the first six months that it was expanded in August, Alderman Rutger Groot Wassink (Reception) informed the city council.
