One hundred organizations worldwide are calling for a ban on apps that can "undress" a person in a photo using AI. These "nudifying tools" are being abused to manipulate images, particularly of women and children.
Child Focus, along with some 100 international organizations, is advocating for a ban on deep nude apps and "undressing software." Deep nudes are sexually explicit fake images or videos created using artificial intelligence. "If we don't act now, in 10 years we'll be wondering how we let this happen," says Niels Van Paemel of Child Focus.
In a manifesto, they ask governments to introduce laws within two years that ban the use, distribution and sale of these tools.
Amsterdam and the online abuse expertise center Offlimits are supporting an international call for a ban on technology that can be used to create fake nude images.
